The UNS-SR (Universal Night Sight – Short Range) is a tiny Clip-On Night Vision Device (CNVD) designed to attach to a weapon system in front of an existing day optic, providing the operator with instant nighttime engagement capabilities. This provides extreme flexibility on the battlefield because it means operators do not have to carry a weapon platform dedicated to night use. When the sun sets, the UNS-SR is simply removed from a pouch and attached to the MIL-Standard M1913 Picatinny Rail in front of the day optic. It is just as easily removed when the sun returns.

The UNS-SR is appropriate for short range rifle platforms and optics. It is ideal for use in conjunction with red dot sights and short range telescopic optics up to 4X. Its high quality refractive lens gathers a large amount of light proportionate to the device’s small size. The system is carefully collimated (boresighted) at the factory to within 0.5 MOA. This means that any POA/POI shift will be mechanically less than ½ MOA. Depending on the individual rifle’s setup, there may be no deviation. The Harris Exelis (ITT) PINNACLE image intensification tube is shock isolated to withstand medium caliber recoil such as .308. But, the UNS-SR really shines when attached to small CQB weapons such as SBR’s and patrol rifles.

The UNS-SR is ideal for law enforcement agencies that want to equip their patrol and SWAT officers with weapon-mounted night vision capability. Its small objective lens gathers enough light to recognize a standing man out to 450 meters under a ¼ moon. The UNS-SR runs for up to 24 hours off a single standard AA battery.
